Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ for 802.11n draft 2.0

802.11n is a breakthrough technology that enables Wi-Fi networks to do more, faster, over a larger area. 802.11n Wi-Fi provides the very best connection available for computer networking and home entertainment applications alike - delivering the range, bandwidth, and performance today's multimedia applications and products demand.

With the potential to deliver up to five times the throughput and up to twice the range of previous-generation Wi-Fi gear, products based on the new 802.11n draft 2.0 standard can do more than ever before. Consumers will soon be able to take advantage of whole-home coverage and content-rich applications such as streaming high-definition video, online gaming with multiple users on a single network, and speedy file transfer of photos, music, and more. Enterprise users will be able leverage 802.11n products to increase network capacity and improve robustness.

The Wi-Fi Alliance began testing and certifying 802.11n draft 2.0 products in June 2007.

Wi-Fi users should always look for rhe Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo and name when purchasing Wi-Fi enabled products.

The Wi-Fi Alliance has been certifying Wi-Fi products since March 2000. To date, the Alliance has certified more than 4,000 Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, printers, routers, cameras, phones, and more. Only products which have passed rigorous tests in an independent test laboratory can display the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo and name.

What the industry analysts are saying about the next generation in Wi-Fi technology:

"With the arrival of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11n draft 2.0 products, we end the practice of uncertain claims of Wi-Fi draft compliance by independent vendors. Consumers can now purchase products with improved performance and be assured of interoperability. Prospective buyers should understand that the Wi-Fi Alliance will provide future certification for the eventual 802.11n final specification and assess their own timeframe for a movement to 802.11n."

- Ken Dulaney, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst in Gartner Research

"So, from low price to amazing performance, .11n is going to shake up the WLAN space perhaps like no development ever has before. And it's all going to happen with unprecedented market velocity."

- Craig Matthias, Principal, Farpoint Group

"Certification of draft 802.11n gear by the Wi-Fi Alliance marks an important milestone in the adoption of advanced Wi-Fi technology. Now consumers have both the dramatic performance improvement and the confidence that devices will work together, so they can take advantage of next-generation Wi-Fi technology."

- Gemma Tedesco, Senior Analyst, In-Stat

"According to Dell'Oro Group reports, draft-802.11n products have already generated over $100M for equipment vendors in 2006. With certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance, consumer adoption of draft-N products will only accelerate."

- Elmer Choy, Analyst, Dell'Oro Group
