Staff Engineer (Santa Clara, CA)

Job Description

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for support and continuous improvement of the growing pool of test programs and reference equipment used in the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ certification program.  He/she will work at the forefront of Wi-Fi technology, with the best technical talent in the industry to sustain a world-class interoperability testing operation that is a cornerstone of making Wi-Fi technology the center of seamless connectivity.

He/she thrives in an ever-changing startup atmosphere, leveraging limited resources and independently juggling many challenges and priorities while working together with peers, test labs, and member company experts to support short-to-mid term technical initiatives for a rapidly growing membership and industry.

Duties

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot the interoperability and performance of Wi-Fi equipment
  • Maintain and manage updates of reference test equipment and test programs
  • Define test requirements and review data for approval of lab qualifications
  • Evaluate test programs and data to identify opportunities for improvement/optimization in areas such as test time, scalability and quality
  • Provide technical support to member company representatives, test labs, and other key partners
  • Develop expert competency in several Wi-Fi certification focus areas (e.g., Wi-Fi security, QoS, etc)
  • Assist in developing materials and delivering technical training for certification test programs
  • Assist in quality initiatives such as auditing, correlation and benchmarking

Qualifications

  • Four year technical degree in related field, advanced technical degree is a plus
  • At least two years of hands-on engineering experience with a wireless technology (testing, HW/SW development, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Proven success working in dispersed, cross functional, and international teams
  • Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi Alliance technology/test plans/certification platforms is a big plus
  • Experience in scripting languages like PERL or Python a big plus
  • Fluency in Traditional Chinese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean and/or Japanese is a plus

Compensation

  • This is a full time position with salary commensurate with education, credentials and experience
  • The position is located in Santa Clara, CA with no relocation provided
