Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ Technology: A powerful and proven asset for China’s operators (2011)
With the increasing availability of Wi-Fi in mobile devices and the increasing commitment of operators to offer Wi-Fi access through their own public hotspots or through roaming partners, Wi-Fi has become a key complementary access technology for Chinese operators addressing an explosive demand for mobile broadband from their subscribers.
To further facilitate and secure Wi-Fi access in public locations, the Wi-Fi Alliance is developing a Wi-Fi CERTIFIED hotspot program that provides a common authentication and provisioning framework that will benefit Chinese operators that have a strong commitment and deep experience in using Wi-Fi extensively for revenue generation, client retention, roaming, and traffic offload.
