Austin, Texas - November 27, 2007
WHAT: The
Wi-Fi Alliance today released a new white paper, "Delivering the Best
Experience with Voice over Wi-Fi Programs," which details the unique
requirements of the voice application on Wi-Fi devices and previews its
Voice-Personal certification program, planned for launch in the first half of
2008.
WHY: Growth in the widespread use of voice over Wi‑Fi in the consumer market is expected to accelerate over the next few years, supported by the availability of Wi‑Fi CERTIFIED™ equipment. ABI Research predicts that more than 340 million Wi-Fi-enabled handsets will ship in 2011. Voice over Wi-Fi delivers flexibility, convenience and cost savings over traditional cellular or wire-line phone service. Wi-Fi is used in hundreds of millions of homes, businesses, and hotspots worldwide.
WHERE: The white paper is available for free registered download on www.wi-fi.org.
