Accounting Manager (Austin, TX)

Wi-Fi Alliance seeks an energetic Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting activities for the organization.  The Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Finance. He/she is an accomplished team player, adept at managing relationships, collaborating and influencing across a variety of organizational functions. They will apply accounting knowledge, logic and common sense to complex situations while anticipating the overall impact to the team and the organization.   They work with the best technical and marketing talent to support the mission of connecting everyone and everything, everywhere.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Manage accurate and timely month-end and year-end close
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations for US and vendor relationship for Asia operations in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage fixed asset register and depreciation calculations
  • Manage pre-paid deposit schedule and expense allocations as necessary
  • Prepare monthly investment revenue journal entries to record activity
  • Maintain vendor contracts and compliance
  • Prepare property tax and municipal tax filings with governmental entities
  • Review and post AP and AR transactions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements per agreed upon schedule
  • Ensure that all P&L Accruals for Revenues and Expenses are appropriately accounted for on a monthly basis
  • Monthly Revenue recognition and reconciliations 
  • Prepare monthly budget to actual analysis of revenue expenses GL accounts
  • Prepare Monthly Finance Update and other Financial Reporting as required
  • Coordinate annual financial audit and tax filings for US and Asia entities
  • Create and maintain up to date Accounting Policies for all critical Accounting areas including the development of Technical Accounting memos as needed
  • Lead development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures
  • Review internal controls at least annually with Finance Director to ensure proper internal controls are in place and maintained
  • Respond to inquiries regarding special reporting requests
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Assist Finance director with budget and revenue planning
  • Assist in development and maintenance of 6-year forecast model
  • Prepare analysis of operational trends and recognize and address potential issues
  • Collaborate with other departments and partner organizations (ie CTIA) to reconcile program billing
  • Plan and prioritize assignments and projects in a constantly changing environment
  • Maintain a pulse on the industry, enabling effective planning in accordance with trends
  • Back-up the AP/AR Manager as necessary

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting of Finance
  • CPA designation preferred but not required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience in public, corporate, association or government accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include advanced Excel skills
  • FinancialForce experience is preferred
