VP of Finance / Finance Director (Austin, TX)

Wi-Fi Alliance seeks an energetic Finance Director to perform all financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, controls, audits, cash management, financial reporting, tax accounting and risk management.  The Finance Director will also assist in supporting other general administrative areas (membership and information technology) and some aspects of Human Resources activities (payroll and benefits).  The Finance Director interprets and communicates the corporate finances to the executive team and the Board of Directors and engages in setting policy, program implementation, program evaluation, and fiscal oversight for all corporate activity.  The Finance Director reports to the CEO.   He/she will work with the best technical and marketing talent in Wi-Fi Alliance member companies, driving industry-visible efforts that support the mission of connecting everyone and everything, everywhere.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review and administer all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes, ensuring they align with the organization’s priorities, goals and objectives, and keep the executive team abreast of the organization’s financial status
  • Review monthly financial position, prepare reports and make strategic recommendations that ensure financial stability; develop and provide tools including monthly reports and dashboards to the executive team and Board to ensure transparency and knowledge of the organization’s financial position, assets and investments
  • Lead financial management and fiscal responsibility through the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO and executive team
  • Supervise the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and of the Board of Directors finance committee; assess any changes necessary
  • Remain up-to-date on accounting  best practices in related to trade associations, business systems, and internal control measures
  • In partnership with the CEO and executive team, develop a long-term financial plan and roadmap
  • As a business partner to the executive team, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the organization’s long-term strategy
  • Engage with the Board of Directors finance committee to develop and monitor financial plans and projections
  • Review financial and accounting procedures and policies; implement changes and modifications designed to increase efficiency, effectiveness and service levels of accounting operations
  • In conjunction with the Human Resources manager, participate in the planning and implementation of payroll, benefits and retirement plans
  • Lead long term facility planning
  • Serve as a member of the CEO’s executive team and participate in organization-wide planning, problem solving and decision making
  • Engage and develop strong relationships with member company representatives to foster effective collaboration
  • Effectively lead, coach, develop and retain a high-performance team with an emphasis on developing capacity in strategic analysis, inter-team coordination and planing, and multi-year budgeting
  • Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of accounting and management experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Management or related field
  • CPA and Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • FinancialForce and Salesforce experience is preferred

  • Ability to travel, including internationally, (10-15%)
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours weekly as needed
  • Ability to work evening hours, weekend hours and Holidays as needed
