Wi-Fi Alliance® to host second annual Wi-Fi World Conference at Wireless China Industry Summit in Beijing

SHANGHAI, China - April 2, 2009 - Wi-Fi Alliance, the worldwide certification body for wireless LAN technology, today announced that it will again host the Wi-Fi World mini-conference at the Wireless China Industry Summit, Sept. 2-3, 2009, in Beijing. With the increased momentum of Wi-Fi technology in China and a 26 percent sales growth increase to 387 million units worldwide in 2008, Wi-Fi is a topic of keen interest to Chinese technology companies, regulators, consumers, and IT managers alike. Wi-Fi World will provide in-depth industry discussions on what is driving today's mobile, always-connected world and the role that Wi-Fi plays in that experience.

What:   This is the Wi-Fi Alliance's second year to host the Wi-Fi World Conference and is in response to the tremendous wireless technology growth seen the China market. In addition to an event-wide keynote address from Wi-Fi Alliance executive director Edgar Figueroa, the organization will sponsor a half-day mini-conference that will include the following panel discussions:

•·  Wi-Fi in Enterprise and Large Deployments: Moving from the Edge to the Core of the Network

•·  Wi-Fi: Indispensable Technology for the Digital Home

•·  Wi-Fi in Your Pocket: Connected Productivity and Entertainment on Handsets, Mobile internet Devices, and Netbooks

Discussions will also span the continued roadmap of innovation in the technology including current issues and topics such as:

•·  How Wi-Fi coexists with 3G, WiMAX and other wireless technologies

•·  Future directions and market trends for wireless in China and around the world

•·  Future directions for Wi-Fi: 802.11n, very high throughput and vehicular Wi-Fi

In addition to the mini-conference, Wi-Fi Alliance will hold a multi-vendor demonstration event of Wi-Fi device-to-device connectivity. This new application of Wi-Fi technology enables devices to connect directly without joining an infrastructure Wi-Fi network, to enable content sharing, synching, printing, and display.

Who:   Executives from Wi-Fi Alliance and representatives from Wi-Fi Alliance member companies will participate in panel and industry-focused sessions. The full conference program will be announced when finalized.
