Wi-Fi Alliance commends Chairman Brett Guthrie and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for introducing the budget reconciliation text. This legislative initiative represents a positive step toward strengthening the United States’ communications infrastructure and ensuring continued spectrum innovation.
We are especially encouraged that the bill explicitly excludes the 5.925–7.125 GHz frequency range. This provision is vital to preserving unlicensed access to the entire 6 GHz band — a foundational resource for the future of Wi-Fi technology. By providing much-needed regulatory clarity, the bill encourages continued investment and innovation in next-generation Wi-Fi technologies, which are already delivering transformative benefits to consumers, enterprises, and public institutions.
The Communications Subtitle of the bill reaffirms Congress's recognition of the central role unlicensed spectrum plays in powering connectivity, enabling economic growth, and supporting key national priorities such as education, telehealth, and small business competitiveness.
Wi-Fi Alliance looks forward to continued collaboration with policymakers to ensure that U.S. spectrum policy keeps pace with the evolving demands of a wireless-first world.
